Road could be renamed ``Neil Armstrong Way.''

(Lebanon, Oh.)--A new stretch of state highway near Lebanon, could be named for Astronaut Neil Armstrong, who lived in the area after becoming the first man to walk on the moon.

The proposal calls for labeling a newly rerouted part of State Route 123 as ``Neil Armstrong Way.'' the $5.65 million project stretching from downtown Lebanon onto Ohio 63 south of the city is still under construction and is expected to be finished late this summer or early fall.

City council unanimously supports naming the road for Armstrong, according to Lebanon Councilman James Norris, though Council has not officially voted on the issue yet.

Armstrong lived on Ohio 123, between Lebanon and Springboro, for more than a decade. He died in Cincinnati on August 25, 2012 at age 82.

Armstrong and fellow astronauts Michael Collins and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin were part of the Apollo 11 mission that landed the first people on the moon on July 20th, 1969.
